George got out his banjo after supper, and wanted to play it, but Harris objected: he said he had got a headache, and did not feel strong enough to stand it. George thought the music might do him good – said music often soothed the nerves and took away a headache; and he twanged two or three notes, just to show Harris what it was like.

Harris said he would rather have the headache.

George has never learned to play the banjo to this day. He has had too much all-round discouragement to meet. He tried on two or three evenings, while we were up the river, to get a little practice, but it was never a success. Harris’s language used to be enough to unnerve any man; added to which, Montmorency would sit and howl steadily, right through the performance. It was not giving the man a fair chance.

“What’s he want to howl like that for when I’m playing?” George would exclaim indignantly, while taking aim at him with a boot.

“What do you want to play like that for when he is howling?” Harris would retort, catching the boot. “You let him alone. He can’t help howling. He’s got a musical ear, and your playing makes him howl.”

So George determined to postpone study of the banjo until he reached home. But he did not get much opportunity even there. Mrs. P. used to come up and say she was very sorry – for herself, she liked to hear him – but the lady upstairs was in a very delicate state, and the doctor was afraid it might injure the child.

Then George tried taking it out with him late at night, and practising round the square. But the inhabitants complained to the police about it, and a watch was set for him one night, and he was captured. The evidence against him was very clear, and he was bound over to keep the peace for six months.

He seemed to lose heart in the business after that. He did make one or two feeble efforts to take up the work again when the six months had elapsed, but there was always the same coldness – the same want of sympathy on the part of the world to fight against; and, after awhile, he despaired altogether, and advertised the instrument for sale at a great sacrifice – “owner having no further use for same” – and took to learning card tricks instead.

It must be disheartening work learning a musical instrument. You would think that Society, for its own sake, would do all it could to assist a man to acquire the art of playing a musical instrument. But it doesn’t!

The Ibanez Euphoria is a pleasure to play. The neck is nicely proportioned, the fretwork clean and the body dimensions comfortable. The cutaway allows for exceptional access to higher frets, though the short-fingered will have to stretch to hit the highest E. Any player who hungers to express a range of emotions in a variety of styles with speed, tone, clarity and power should put the Euphoria on his or her “must play” list. The Ibanez Euphoria comes equipped with a relatively traditional Fishman Acoustic Matrix bridge pickup that is augmented by a customized version of the company’s powerful Aura digital guitar modeling system. This imitates the sound of the guitar when played through various classic microphones. The Aura’s tweaking controls include rotary Volume, Image Select (to choose one of six microphone models), a three-band EQ and a blend slider that balances the Aura and the bridge-mounted piezo.

I don’ know how Ibanez did it, but Euphoria sounds bright, even the strings are not changed for a long time. A natural acoustic sound not very powerful, but it`s clear and really plentiful. Furthermore, the neck is very handy and convenient to fast playing. Also, Euphoria has wonderful looks, like all Steve Vai Signature models.
Probably, that`s hard to find this model on the market today. There are many Ibanez acoustic guitars available, which are worth trying them to play. I dare to recommend Ibanez guitars, many of them are worth an asked price.

One of the worlds most iconic guitars, the JEM pushes the boundaries of what a guitar can and should do. In the hands of the adventurous musical warlock, the JEM is the scepter that opens doors, alters time and space and reveals the mysteries of the forbidden notes.
I have tried many electric guitars into a music shop, but for this price I wasn`t come face to face with better, for me. I bought one new, last year. The playability of my guitar is great, and it sounds good. Well, Ibanez JEM 555 is a pretty good guitar, in my opinion.

But, probably you came to this page, while you have a trouble with tremolo setup and in all probabilities your guitar not stays in tune. Yes, this edge tremolo made a lot of pain for me too, since entire guitar set up depends rather on the setup of the bridge.
So, how to correctly adjust the tremolo?

Before you begin adjusting the tremolo angle , you need to set the tremolo height you want. It means strings height on fretboard. Because, height changes affect tension and will change the angle. Likewise, changing the strings or neck truss rod tension, changes tremolo bridge setup.

Setting up the angle of the tremolo unit

The tremolo unit will operate optimally when the tension of the strings balances the tension of the tremolo springs installed inside the guitar body so that the tremolo unit is parallel with the guitar body.
First remove the tremolo spring cavity cover plate from the back of the guitar, for adjusting spring screws. If possible It can adjust through holes in a plate, without removing a cover plate.
If the tremolo backside is sitting too low and the angle needs to be brought up, you need to release tension from the springs. If the back of the tremolo is too high and needs to bring the angle down, you need to increase the tension the springs apply. Retune the strings and check the angle of tremolo bridge. Repeat a procedure until you get correct adjustment.
Screw or unscrew the screws for minor adjustments to 1/4 turn.If it needs major adjustment then much more.
After changing the guitar strings, these will drag out, and you need to repeat adjustment.
It`s a little hard do to until you improve your skill. Even so, afterward it`s no sweat, to setup you guitar tremolo.
