The best rated guitar amp emulator softwares today are Guitar Rig from Native Instruments and Amplitube from IK Multimedia. These both two sounds nice and have a good usability.
Guitar Rig interface has a more comfortable menu buttons and drag & drop solution for adding components. Amplitube too looks good but navigation between the settings is a little bit complicated. On the contrary, Amplitube sounds brighter and wider while Guitar Rig sounds more solid and dry.
I have both in my computer, and my first prefer is brighter sound rather. However, this is just my subjective opinion. There is nice comparison recording to listen. It helps to get better picture about these softwares.
